Trick or Treat

Saturday, October 29th, 2005

Beggars Night is on Halloween for the first time in many years in most Central Ohio communities.  According to the Columbus Dispatch Beggars night being before Halloween was because Columbus historically had a Halloween Party on October 31!

According to the Columbus Dispatch, the Columbus Halloween party was discontinued in the 1950’s because it got out of hand!

An Irish Blessing for Halloween

At all Hallow’s Tide, God keep you safe
From goblin and pooka and black-hearted stranger,
From harm of the water and hurt of the fire,
From thorns of the bramble, from all other danger,
From Will O’ The Wisp haunting the mire;
From stumbles and tumbles
and tricksters to vex you,
May God in His mercy, this week protect you.

Celebrating Halloween comes from the Celts who lived in Ireland long ago.

Gas Prices Nothing to Wine About

Friday, October 28th, 2005

Did you hear about the guy in Paris who almost got away with stealing several paintings from the Louvre? After planning the crime, getting in and out past security, he was captured only two blocks away when his SUV ran out of gas.

When asked how he could mastermind such a crime and then make such an obvious error, he replied: “Monsieur, I had no Monet to buy Degas to make the Van Gogh.”

And you thought I lacked De Gaulle to send you a story like this!

This corny joke from California REALTOR® Terry Osborn.

Why does the westside of town or Hilliard area always have the least expensive gas in Columbus? Chris Holmen a Texas REALTOR® recommends Gas Buddy or another site is MSN Local Gas Prices to find the best local gas prices.

It’s not Monet, Degas or Van Gogh but The Columbus Museum of Art has a  Renoir exhibit through January 8, 2006.

I just received an invitation to The Art of the Grape 2005 & Renoir’s Women Exhibition Tour November 4, 2005 Columbus Museum of Art, 6:30 - 7:30 pm

Order Tickets Complimentary Valet Parking at the Broad Street Entrance

Costs no Monet to park the van? Anyone want to Gogh? I will pay for Degas.

The invitation says: “CMA is the exclusive world venue for this exhibition Tour by Dominique Vasseur, CMA Curator of European Art. 7:30 - 10:00 pm Wine Tasting and Live Auction French style Hors d’oeuvres.  A sit down wine tasting features six wines selected from the finest wine producing regions of France. An auction features fine wines, rare wines and French trifles & treasures. Wine commentary by J.P. Fritz Live Auction by auctioneer Larry Woods.”
