Do we have poverty in Central Ohio?  Are there people who go hungry in Columbus?

The  Mid-Ohio Foodbank is the 11th largest foodbank in the United States.  Mid-Ohio Foodbank serves Central and Eastern Ohio…. their business is up 14% from a year ago.

“Mid-Ohio Foodbank is dedicated to feeding hungry people by collecting and distributing food and grocery products, advocating for hunger-relief programs, and collaborating with others who address basic human needs.”

We can volunteer time, food and money to help feed the hungry people served by the Mid-Ohio Foodbank.  Local restaurants, kitchens and farmers work with the Mid-Ohio Food bank to provide food for hungry people.  Mid_Ohio Foodbank supplies 500 local pantries, soup kitchens, etc. in Central and Eastern Ohio.   Every dollar collected by Mid-Ohio Foodbank allows them to provide $8 dollars in food to local people who need it.  Lots of those hungry people are children.

Mid-Ohio Foodbank is a part of Feeding America,  “the nation’s largest non-governmental, domestic hunger relief organization.”

Mid-Ohio Foodbank is raising funds to move to a larger facility in Grove City.  They have  raised $10 Million of the $16 Million required to make that move.  Mid-Ohio Foodbank is presently on West Mound Street in Columbus.

Today is Blog Action Day.  This years theme is poverty.
