Watching Columbus TV News Twitter
My name is Maureen and I Twitter.
At least for me the first local media Twitterer (member of Twitter) that I was aware of was Tim Eby with WOSU. I think Tim is WOSU radio… station manager? Tim is @TimEby on Twitter. WOSU has twitter feeds… or did… trying to remember seeing anything from WOSU lately. It may be Twitter not WOSU. Sometimes you just want to spank Twitter…
The next old media (if you believe blogging is the new media) to show up on Twitter was Channel 4 News.. WCMH (?) our local NBC station… or they were the next that I started following on Twitter. I first heard that they were going to Twitter on TV… very early one morning so I went looking to see who was going to Twitter.
It has been fun watching the people from Channel 4 Twitter. There are a lot of them (Channel 4 folk ) who Twitter.
Recently Channel 10 (the CBS station in Columbus, I don’t know their call letters… if that is what you call those ) started Twittering. It is interesting to see how the two TV channels are using Twitter.
Channel 10 and Channel 4 use Twitter different.

If you want to follow (that’s what it’s called on Twitter… try NOT to think of stalk) Channel 4 on Twitter, link above shows who is Twittering… lots.
If you want to follow Channel 10 as it tweets Twitters they are @10TV I have the inside scoop… it is a person, not a bot but I can not divulge my source.
I don’t know who it is.
Oh I tweet as @MoinColumbusOH…

From my experience, I have found tweeting with the local news stations is a great way to get your news instantly. Whenever there is a story, the local news tweets it, i.e. the insert you put in showing @AMANDA_WCMH. Also, I have enjoyed tweeting with you on this topic.

@MoinColumbusOH @10tv is run by their Managing Editor, Craig Friedman. Craig used to work here, as did one of his editors, Kyle Durban. @denise_wcmh trained Kyle, he’s a cool guy. There’s your inside scoop, from the outside.
you know me, @nbcsquire

Craig Freedman is the not a bot who responds then.
I feel bad that I don’t have a link to them or to WOSU… but I gotta run. Thanks for the scoops.

Just to give you a little background about me… as managing editor of 10TV.com, I am handling the bulk of the Twitter posts and responses. I have eight years experience working for and managing Web sites, including experiences at Cincinnati’s WLWT, NBCOlympics.com, and WCMH-TV in Columbus, when they were owned and operated by NBC Universal.
10TV hired me back in late 2006 after they saw the job I did with the regional and national awards we won at the time with Channel 4’s site. We have our very successful 10TVToGo.com WAP site and also have presence on other social networking platforms. Thanks for checking us out and feel free to contact me if you have questions or comments about the job we’re doing.

thanks for the info Craig
My comment on Twitter about that I should have a tweet here from Channel 10 is that there should be one right below Amanda’s post showing the avatar and a tweet from Channel 10… I was trying to illustrate the two different TV channels approach to Twitter… I can’t really do each and every Channel 4 employee’s @TwitterHandle… Channel 10 just has the one presence on Twitter (?) that I am aware of. They feed links to Channel 10… some of us were discussing on Twitter whether they were all via Twitterfeed. They do not seem to be, some are from the web, but they feed to the Channel 10 website. Different from the channel 4’s use of Twitter with lots of people Twittering and not necessarily all to a feed at the website.
I could not go back far enough in Twitter when I was writing this to grab a Tweet from Channel 10 that looks like Amanda at Channel 4’s (because I follow so many people.) If I thought this out ahead of time I would have written this post differently because of the way things show up on Twitter.
Does channel 4 have a feed feeding links to their stories on the web?
