I live right near Crest Tavern and have never ventured in there. It's stumbling distance too, I can walk. I heard they don't have food anymore (from my local postal worker). Darn. Bob, do they have good beers?

Bob and Ian I guess I should have said Clintonville is mostly dry... thanks for providing where in the mostly dry Clintonville area one can get a beer.

Tina there are no "borders" to Clintonville, it is a neighborhood or an area... what I consider Clintonville may not be the same as what someone else considers Clintonville. I thought I could get some comments by saying Clintonville is dry ;- ) There is an area on the north side of Columbus that is dry. If you drive down High Street and notice the kinds of restaurants you can tell there is something going on there that is not going on to the north in Worthington or south in the University area. You can find places on the fringes to get a beer...

That's interesting...I didn't know a neighborhood could be dry. Isn't Clintonville a neighborhood in Columbus?

"Clintonville is Dry" is one of the biggest myths of Central Ohio.

Portions of High St. from North Broadway through Clintonville and Beechwold up to Morse Rd. are dry, but not all. Smith's Deli holds the option of selling beer and wine. You can also get a nice beer at the Northstar.

High up to North Broadway, and almost the entire stretch of Indianola in Clintonville are not dry. Weilands and Palmers are well known for their beer and wine selection, and Weilands added liquor in recent years. The Crest Tavern and the India-Oak Tavern are Columbus institutions. Brew-Stirs and O'Reily's anchor the south end of Clintonville, and you can get a beer at Aladdins and a number of other places.

One place you can't get a beer is the Kroger at North Broadway and High. Kroger stated publicly when they opened the store in the early 80's that they'd never seek a liquor license, but they soon went back on their word. They try to get one every few years, and are shot down every time.
