Lucy,

Sorry Lucy we got, what we got in Central Ohio. We eat it the way they serve it. They serve it with melted cheese and sour cream to satisfy our taste. I try to make myself say no cheese and no sour cream... not because I don't love cheese or sour cream or not because it is not tasty and satisfying and certainly not because it is not authentic. I try to make myself just say no because of the fat content.

I don't believe that melted cheese and sour cream are the only things that make Tex Mex different. I don't like Tex Mex. On the Border is Tex Mex. There was a Tex Mex place on the south end of Clintonville for years... La Talita?

As I understand it most Mexican Restaurants in the US have Americanized Mexican food with sour cream and lots of melted cheese. I don't believe that what El Vaquero, La Hacienda Real. Casa Fiesta, El Acapulo and La Casita is serving is Tex Mex.

I think what we find in Columbus is Mexican food Americanized by melting cheese over it and putting a dollop of sour cream on top.. and we have some Tex Mex Restaurants too.

It's what we call Mexican food here because it would cost so much to put Americanized Mexican Restaurant on all the advertising...

I have eaten Mexican food in Mexico too. At the touristy places it has cheese melted over everything and sour cream... but they didn't call it a Tex Mex food or even an Americanized Mexican food.

Thanks for the comment!
