A Columbus Landmarks Foundation event that did not make my Columbus Calendar of Events for June 2009….here because I did not know about the event.

June 25, 2009 - 6pm to 8:30pm, Thursday evening, ‘Hidden Treasures: Keys to the Past’ is an event at Columbus Architectural Salvage, tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door.

The event with food, music and door prizes is at Columbus Architectural Salvage, 1270 Edgehill Rd Columbus, OH 43212.

Fireplace mantels, doors, door knobs, heat grates, windows, fences, gates, urns, claw foot tubs, cabinets, chandliers …. you name it Columbus Architectural Salvage has got it.

Columbus Architectural Salvage keeps mantels, doors, door knobs, heat grates, windows, fences, gates, urns, claw foot tubs, chandliers and more out of the landfill and available to homeowners, remodelers, decorators, etc.

When I was majoring in interior design in college this was what I wanted to do… architectural salvage. Sandford and Sons, pieces and parts of homes.

Columbus Landmarks Foundation has a whole years worth of walking tours (through October 2009) of the villages that make up Columbus including tours of Old Worthington, City Hop ( downtown last weekend), German Village, Italian Village, Irish Village (do you know where that is?) and more… 25 walking tours in all? Wow. This Saturday morning is Italian Village, Sunday is ‘Irish Village’…. Thursday is the event at Columbus Architectural Salvage, they’ve even got the kitchen sink.

Central Ohio’s Best High Schools?

Newsweek called them the 1500 “top” public high schools in the country, rather than “Best” in a Web Exclusive list last week. Four central Ohio high schools made the Newsweek list:

291 on the list is Olentangy Liberty High School

333 on the list is Dublin Jerome High School

929 on the list is Dublin Coffman High School

1095 on the list is Dublin Scioto High School

For the complete list of the 1,500 top U.S. high schools on this Newsweek Web Exclusive and how the list was compiled read “The Top of the Class” in the June 8, 2009 edition of Newsweek. You can find previous year’s lists there.

Congratulations to the four Central Ohio high schools. I hope I did not miss any other Columbus area schools on the list… I don’t think I did…

Congratulations to Dublin City Schools for getting all three Dublin high schools on the list.

Congratulations to the Olentangy Local School District for Olentangy Liberty High School’s top place on the list locally, that is impressive!
