Do we have poverty in Central Ohio? Are there people who go hungry in Columbus?
The Mid-Ohio Foodbank is the 11th largest foodbank in the United States. Mid-Ohio Foodbank serves Central and Eastern Ohio…. their business is up 14% from a year ago.
“Mid-Ohio Foodbank is dedicated to feeding hungry people by collecting and distributing food and grocery products, advocating for hunger-relief programs, and collaborating with others who address basic human needs.”
We can volunteer time, food and money to help feed the hungry people served by the Mid-Ohio Foodbank. Local restaurants, kitchens and farmers work with the Mid-Ohio Food bank to provide food for hungry people. Mid_Ohio Foodbank supplies 500 local pantries, soup kitchens, etc. in Central and Eastern Ohio. Every dollar collected by Mid-Ohio Foodbank allows them to provide $8 dollars in food to local people who need it. Lots of those hungry people are children.
Mid-Ohio Foodbank is a part of Feeding America, “the nation’s largest non-governmental, domestic hunger relief organization.”
Mid-Ohio Foodbank is raising funds to move to a larger facility in Grove City. They have raised $10 Million of the $16 Million required to make that move. Mid-Ohio Foodbank is presently on West Mound Street in Columbus.
Today is Blog Action Day. This years theme is poverty.
