Getting around Columbus and Central Ohio.

I can’t embed this video for some reason, but here’s a link to a video on YouTube about Driving Directions… using Google’s Street View on their mapping.

Google Street View Driving Directions

Yeah I can kind of see some of the uses. Going to downtown Columbus and worried about where to park? I can see it.

Using Google Maps to find potholes seems kinda silly to me… aren’t potholes (in theory anyway) filled up relatively quickly? With what frequency will Google be updating the photos? Maybe in some parts of the world using Google Street View to look for  potholes  makes sense…warmer?? where they don’t have a seasonal freeze, thaw, freeze cycle that makes sense…  I guess I don’t really think I would alter my route based on potholes either… just try not to drive into them.  If I am driving from the Polaris area to the Easton area, I certainly am not going to route my travels scanning the streets between the two areas for potholes.  I thought it was odd.

Now that they show Central Ohio streets are Google street view maps good or evil?

“Smile and say cheese…kids” …Channel 4 News had a story about Google Street View earlier this week. Mostly privacy concerns centered on kids being in the front yard when the photo was snapped.

My office - 6902 N. High Street sits back off High Street, the “street view” is the banks in front of us.

You can remove your house. In Minnesota, a whole town asked to be removed from street view. In the Star Tribune “North Oaks tells Google Maps: Keep out - we mean it”

Columbus’ “evil biased media” is blogging

and tweeting (writing on Twitter) … I believe I saw something about channel 4 Twittering and that’s why am following @NBCSquire and others at channel 4 … on Twitter.

On his blog ‘Building a Better Newsroom’ Ryan Squire says:

“we are the evil biased media, or something”

in a post entitled “Why I can’t sell a TV news story on Twitter” on his blog. Why channel 4 has not done a story on Twitter.

I saw or heard about channel 4 being on Twitter on TV… early one Sunday morning…

I was kind of surprised to see individuals at channel 4 tweeting (posting 140 character microblogs… if that’s what you believe Twitter is… and I do… believe Twitter is microblogging or can be… )  I thought channel 4 on Twitter would just be an impersonal news feed…

it is people, tweeting.
