Central Ohio Mosquitoes

Friday, July 25th, 2008

The  Franklin County Board of Health website has “Let’s Say No to the Mosquito.”

They’ve only found Mosquito’s with the West Nile virus in Prairie Township (far west Franklin County) and Dublin?  So far?  It says stay tuned to their website for fogging in other parts of the county.  They sprayed Dublin previously?  Sprayed the township in southwestern Franklin County on July 24th.

The Franklin County Board of Health website has a link to info about what you need to do to keep mosquitoes from breeding in your backyard.. no standing water…

I don’t get mosquito bites personally so I don’t worry about mosquitoes… except when I worry that maybe I do get bit by mosquitoes and just don’t get itchy bumps when mosquitoes bite me.

“My World - And Welcome To It”

earth in handsMy world is in Columbus Ohio… My world is in the northern outer-belt.  My world is centered on the Worthington area.

Downtown Columbus is a great place to visit for me.  Most years I go to Downtown Columbus for Red, White and Boom, the Columbus Arts Festival, sometimes the Latino Festival, or the Jazz and Ribs Festival.  I have been to almost every First Night Columbus (I think I missed the second one… and I can’t remember this past year…. did we NOT go?) Driving down for plays at Schiller Park has been a summer tradition.

With gas nearing 4 dollars a gallon, will I stay closer to home?

I live north of 270.  My office is in Worthington. I spend most of my life in Worthington, Westerville, Powell, Lewis Center areas along with the north side of Columbus, in neighborhoods like Clintonville, the Bethel Road area, and the Northland area.

Worthington Ghost Tours: The Tale of Dr. Morrow

A video starring Stefan Langer, the webmaster at Worthington Libraries as Dr. Thomas Morrow.

Grave robbers, angry mobs of citizens, a missing body from an insane asylum? I don’t believe I had ever heard of the the story of Dr. Thomas Morrow and the Worthington Medical College’s demise. The Worthington Library has a series of videos of Worthington ghost stories that they produced last fall.

Worthington Ohio is a unique town built around the historic village that was settled by people from New England. There are links to Worthington schools, libraries, and more on my website: Worthington on MaureenMcCabe.com which says of modern day Worthington:”Worthington was founded in 1803 and has grown into a well established community while maintaining its New England atmosphere. Worthington offers a wide variety of homes, both in style and price range. The proximity to the 1-270 outerbelt with Interstate 71 and Route 315 makes transportation to downtown Columbus easy, allows fifteen to twenty minutes driving time at rush hours.”

“red is the lowest ranking a district can earn on the new “value-added” rating system reported by the Ohio Department of Education last week.

Worthington was the only school district in Franklin County to be slapped with a red label. It says that the students in grades four through eight are, in general, not learning at the rate expected by the state.”
