Looking for Columbus blogs earlier this week… I thought this was a Michigan joke…. turns out it’s just a splog.  A green splog:

Mixing “Yellow and Blue” makes what ?

Simple Living - Central Ohio. The purpose of Simply Living is to educate ourselves and others to live responsibly and sustainably in joyful relationship with the earth and one another. The Simple Living Network, Providing tools and …

If it were a Michigan joke it would be mixing “Maize and Blue” anyway wouldn’t it? Or maybe it’s not a splog. Maybe it is a directory of green links with Google Ads. My apologies to “BoratsFriend.”

I have lots of Buckeye (sports blog… OK who are we kidding football) blogs in my Columbus Blogroll.

I was trying to look off the beaten path for Central Ohio blogs, maybe not strictly Columbus blogs… but about the Central Ohio area, or a particular suburb. Dublin, Worthington, Westerville, Lewis Center, etc. etc. etc. Or a neighborhood… like Clintonville or Clintonville or Clintonville. I have trouble thinking of other Columbus neighborhoods other than… you know which one.

I know all the Central Ohio real estate blogs although I can’t keep us straight… We are all named Columbus, of course. If I was starting over again, I would NOT name my blog Columbus (too big) I would not put blog in the name either because I hate the word blog…. but this is not about me or my blogs. This is about Central Ohio blogs…

Trying to find Central Ohio blogs searching with the Google blog search for names of Columbus Ohio suburbs I found:

A shout out to Gahanna on AOL journals

GAHANNA OHIO MY HOME TOWN

A FARM TOWN THAT GOT DEEP POCKETS AND BIG HOUSES. THE SCHOOL IS THREE TIMES THE SIZE. MAMA NEBS PIZZA, I MISS THAT!

I found some real Central Ohio blogs…

Columbus Intelligence

I really enjoyed Scrap: La Hacienda Real on Sinclair Rd. Maybe because La Hacienda Real is one of my favorite Columbus Mexican restaurants.

He? She? the blogger (why don’t I hate the word blogger if I hate the word blog?) doesn’t like La Hacienda Reals’ tortillas… Flour or corn toritllas? Where in Columbus can you get better home made corn tortillas? I need to know… The blogger is a transplant from Austin TX. Welcome to Central Ohio.

A Powell bog A Mere Detour more political than I usually read…

A Central Ohio blog I’ve noticed a number of times… Central Ohioans Against Terrorism
this time because of a post about …Worthington Ohio “kids” hosting Jihad sites on the internet.

Westerville to Arena District Bikeway (reincarnated a previous blog was called WAD

Westerville Uptown Merchants Association I’ve found this blog before I know…
An issue oriented blog for Powell Ohio:

Stop Powell Target describes itself as:

“Information for Powell & Liberty Residents concerning the proposed Target Store on Sawmill Rd from the Community Oversight Foundation”

Gosh is ColumbusBestBlog.com being a directory of blogs here… no better than mixing “Yellow and Blue”? Is my blog I mean site no better than the couple of splogs or sites I mentioned here? Maybe not… but there are no Google ads… and I am not redirecting you to buy drugs, mp3 players or worse… Yes it is a real estate blog…

I’d love to hear from other Central Ohio bloggers… I like to read blogs from Central Ohio, about Central Ohio… raise your hand if you are blogging in Central Ohio.

Columbus Social Media Cafe

WOSU TV and WOSU radio have the megaphone…  COSI  in downtown Columbus… is just the spot for Columbus’s inquiring minds and they (WOSU and COSI) have already joined forces in the WOSU Digital Media Center at COSI.

WOSU and COSI hosted Columbus bloggers Thursday evening…  photos, video and more on the Columbus Social Media Cafe site….  The question of the evening was:“What can we do together that we cannot do alone to change this community using social media tools?” when Columbus bloggers were invited to COSI to talk about traditional media and new media and what it can do together for the Columbus community… and the issues Columbus bloggers are passionate about…

Topics from the Social Media Cafe site:

Rallying support on-line for causes off line

Supporting Local Business

How to break in to Traditional Media using stand by resources — finding a way for WOSU to use citizens in participatory media — CITIZEN JOURNALISM”

Effective Tools for off line causes

How we capture the stories of our citizens

How can you use blogs to welcome newcomers to ColumbusHow can we save our children when we’re facing so many entitlements and problems in our education system

Communities, libraries, food, retailing….  I am not as smart as a lot of the people who were there.  My mind was sorta boggled by the whole thing…

On a somwhat related note, next Wednesday… the day before Thanksgiving…

leaves

Looking at it the blog at first I thought it was for kids.  But Earth & Sky for kids is by kids isn’t it?

“Here are Earth & Sky Young Producers Nichole McClintock and Ashley Haimerl of Heritage Middle School, Westerville, Ohio.”

It says “Young Producers… but I had a hard time believing it when I read it.  I had to listen to their voices.

It is really pretty amazing how many trees still have leaves now.  We went for a hike in High Banks Metro Park two weeks ago.  I thought all the leaves would be gone by now.. or more bare.

OhioColumbus bloggers did you go?  Ohio bloggers?

Town Hall Meeting - “Keep it Made in America” town hall meetings

I did not go.

I first heard about the Town Hall Meeting from a Cleveland blogger… Carole Cohen (Goodness Carole’s got a new WordPress blog now, Cleveland Real Estate News, she had a Blogger.com blog last time I checked in with her… I can not keep up…)   I would not commit to going to the town hall meeting ahead of time..  I did not even reply to Carole’s email notifying me about the town hall meeting…  I kept changing my mind about going or not going.

Carole obviously heard about it directly because of what she blogs about.   Issues, politics, jobs, the economy.

I am not that political.  Politics scares me.  Instead I went to a builders open house in Galena (out in the boondocks..wonderful area and it is closer than it used to be but it gets dark out in the boondocks..)  instead.  I could blog about the food or the pretty decorating.  Or I could tell you about taking a wrong turn in the country, in the dark… thank goodness all roads lead back to Columbus.  I guess I could have got totally turned around and hit Cleveland, hopefully I would have had the sense to turn around.  Actually I would have run out of gas long before I hit Cleveland…

I went out to the new subdivision via Worthington Road… but ended up coming back by Route 3 through Westerville, if I had turned the wrong way I would have been headed to Cleveland.   Isn’t Route 3 the 3C Highway, Cincinnati to Cleveland by way of Columubs?

I wondered why the town hall meeting about manufacturing was in Columbus and not Cleveland.  If the meeting had been in Cleveland it would have been more convenient for Carole and I would feel less guilt….

Columbus wants to be…

Columbus skyline as a postcardChicago?  Cleveland?

Really?

I don’t think Columbus wants to be Chicago or Cleveland…

A Dayton blog thinks Columbus has aspirations to be Chicago or Cleveland?

In “I wish we were more like…” Dayton Most Metro claims:

  • Columbus = Cow Town

  • And they hate the fact that whenever mentioned on the national stage, they are always called Columbus, Ohio as opposed to just Columbus (and some have suggested they change their name.)

I think the first is Cow-Town… or so my ColumbusBestBlog.com spell check tells me.  My category here is Cowtown but that’s because that was what the category was on the original Columbus Best Blog and that blog is sooooo old it did not have spell check when I started.

The Columbus Ohio thing… Gee I hope Columbus doesn’t change the cities name… I’d have two blogs I’d need to rename.  I think Columbus is OK with all those other mini Columubuses sharing the same name.  I can understand why we often have to use the state name… I have lots of searches for other Columbuses end up on my Columbus Ohio real estate blogs.

I say embrace the cows!
