75 Years of Beer

Monday, April 7th, 2008

Happy April 7th! it is “the 75th Anniversary of the re-legalization of the manufacture and sales of beer and wine” according to the Columbus Beer Wench.

Thanks to Tina of Green Buckeye for mentioning the Columbus Beer Wench site… when Tina wrote about green beer for St. Patrick’s Day. A different kind of green…

Here’s to Anheuser Busch… I smell the brewery in Columbus sometimes., depending on the way the wind blows Here’s to Miller from Milwaukee where I was born… Here’s to PBR… when I was a kid my Grandfather drove a Pabst Blue Ribbon delivery truck in Chicago… here’s to Point Beer a favorite from college, actually I don’t believe I ever met a beer I did not like in college.

Today’s an anniversary for wine too… Visit the Columbus Beer Wench site for the history of the re-legalization of beer and wine… come the end of this year we can celebrate the re-legalization of hard liquor to.

Happy April 7th… Columbus Beer Drinkers…

Happy April 7th to Dave of Dave’s Beer…

Just Say No to Memes…

Saturday, March 1st, 2008
Name: Mark Pilatowski

Subject: Blog Meme

“You have been tagged with a blog meme. Please share 7 interesting things about yourself and share this with 7 Active Rainers who also have outside blogs. Here is my post, http://blog.myclosingspace.com/2008/03/so-diane-tagged-me-with-meme.html.”

No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No!

Thanks for thinking of me Mark but I am all memed out. I was memed twice with this same meme in February… once by Lola Audu of Grand Rapids Michigan and a few days later by Wayne Long from Columbus Georgia…

There were not 7 interesting things about me to share in February… much less 14 and certainly not 21.

Meme Madness - February 8, 2008

Curses Memed Again February 5, 2008

Visit the meme on Mark’s My Closing Space site…

What is a meme? Joseph Ferrara on Sellsius°Real Estate Blog defined meme:

“A meme (rhymes with dream) is a catch phrase representing a contagious idea that spreads virally in a culture, like transparency, Web 2.0, Long Tail or maybe unzillowable. The word comes from the Greek meaning “mimic”. In the blogosphere, it’s a game of topic tag. You answer the topic question and pass it on to others to do the same. “

Meme Madness

Friday, February 8th, 2008

I just got memed again… “I am challenging you to post 7 interesting things about yourself. ” wrote Wayne Long of ColumbusHomeShow.com (Columbus Georgia) Donna and Wayne Long’s meme post:

7 Interesting Things about Donna and Wayne

Sorry Wayne and Donna, my 7 things may not be interesting… I am just doing a rerun of the meme post I did just Tuesday for Lola Audu of Grand Rapids Michigan…

Curses Memed Again a synopsis:

1. I was the office Mardi Gras Queen in 2006

2. I and good at games

3. I can’t play guitar

4. I don’t eat wheat… officially

5. I cheat and eat wheat…

6. I’ve lived in a number of spots in the mid-west previously.

7. A Rose by any other name…

There are links to most of the memes I’ve been tagged with on the post Tuesday.  There are links to the bloggers I tagged this time too. I tagged mostly Columbus bloggers …

I tagged Bonnie Erickson one of my first blogging buddies and she’s done her meme too…

Or say “thanks for thinking of me … but me and my blog are done with memes for a bit…”

Disclaimer… the real estate blog world

Wednesday, January 30th, 2008

… the real estate blog world is in a tizzy. A real estate blogger is being sued for 25 million dollars… He was fired by his broker. Two brokers?

This is primarily to any readers who “blog”… It’s about “blogging.”

This is on my Home Page on ColumbusBestBlog.com:

“ColumbusBestBlog.com is not the opinion of Real Living HER. ColumbusBestBlog.com is not the opinion of Real Living. Neither organization probably has an opinion about the best gyros in Columbus or the best Indian restaurant (my favorite Indian restaurant closed… please forward any recommendations quick…)

This is a blog about the best of Columbus and Central Ohio. “

Maybe I’ll put above about Real Living not having an opinion on Indian food on each and every post I write (and you have to be sure the RSS picks it up too.)

On the original Columbus Best Blog (now known or unknown as Discover Columbus) for a time I used a long disclaimer that I cobbled together from disclaimers on MLS and various websites.

From a February 2006 post:

“The information provided herein is supplied by several sources and is subject to change without notice. Columbus Best Blog does not guarantee or is any way responsible for its accuracy, and provides said information without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. Entries on Columbus Best Blog represent the opinions and ideas of the author(s). They do not necessarily reflect the views of HER Real Living. Copyright ? 2006 Maureen McCabe & Columbus Best Blog All Rights Reserved. “

Yes there is a question mark in it. I don’t know why. Maybe I had the copyright symbol there and changing templates has messed up symbols, etc. on the old entries on the blog…

The blog that started it all…. Lucas Lechuga’s Miami Blog - Opera Tower, LLC & Tibor Hollo Sues Me for $25M It’s not the blog post that started it all… that’s back in November.

Sellsius Real Estate Blog - Did Real Estate Blogger Defame Miami Developer? A $25 Million Libel Lesson

A poll on blogging… the poll is primarily for real estate bloggers… but does the idea of getting sued for what you write on your blog concern you at all? If you are a blogger vote if the poll makes sense to you. Sue Who?

My apologies to anyone named Sue…

California Court of Appeal: “Dumb Ass” is not a defamatory term

My blog is pretty polite, maybe kinda Pollyannish.. I started a blog to promote Columbus and took the attitude “If you can’t say something nice don’t say anything at all.”Anyone know whether “Dumb Ass” is defamatory in Ohio? Will you be reading Columbus Builder is a “Dumb Ass” on local real estate blogs sometime soon?
