odd Askimet thought your comment was spam..

I am so not up to speed on Linkedin I don't understand the paragraph "I guess the biggest difference between us and LinkedIn is that we don’t charge to connect/contact with others who aren’t in your network." means or does not mean to me. I joined Linkedin in 2006 but don't have much of a profile there....

Thanks for the comment.

Hi Maureen,
No worries! It just pains me to hear our company and the word "SPAM" used together. It's a fine line. What some people view as beneficial, others view as annoying. That's why we try to give the email controls to our members.

As more networks evolve, it's become more and more difficult to keep with them. We realize that Naymz (or professional social networking altogether) might not be for everyone.

I guess the biggest difference between us and LinkedIn is that we don't charge to connect/contact with others who aren't in your network. We also have more features and services around search engine placement for your name and learning more about who is visiting your profile. Some find this valuable, others don't.

Great blog! Keep up the good work and have a great weekend.

Tom,

I don't mean any disrespect, it is just not one of my favorite networks. As I remember it I had an invite to Spock and Naymz in my mailbox from two different friends and chose Naymz over Spock because of the name.

Or maybe I chose based on who invited me to both. It was not scientific or based on the authority of the two. Maybe they are not even the same thing. It is hard for me to judge.

I will have to dial down the email alerts from Naymz or delete my membership there because I find it irritating. Not as irritating as Facebook by any stretch of the imaginination and I have not quit Facebook yet.

Maybe I have not given Naymz a fair chance. I am sure there are lots of people who love it. Different strokes for different folks. I joined Linkedin, Wanna Network and ActiveRain at the same time in 2006. I have not done a good job on my Linkedin profile, my fault I am not blaming Linkedin. Lots of people love it. It is pretty low maintenance. I have avoided WannaNetwork because I felt it was a pale imitation of ActiveRain and both are real estate networks.

I am not blasting Naymz and I will adjust the mailings or quit. Good luck with it! Thanks for the comment.

Hi Maureen,
We try to make it as simple as possible to change the frequency of or completely stop receiving e-mail communications from Naymz. All you need to do is log-in to your account and change your Email settings which is found in your "Account" section. An unsubscribe link can also be found at the bottom of any e-mails we have sent you in the past. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

Best,
Tom Drugan
Naymz Co-founder

Patrick

It was relatively <del datetime="2008-01-11T08:37:09+00:00">painfull</del> oops I meant to say <b> painless. </b> Sorry to have told such a melodramatic rendition of my sign up.... I had just blogged a few hours earlier that I would not join anymore sites, social media overload but I was trying to get Spock to accept my email address at the time...

The thing with asking people "For Trust" was me not Spock... I don't like to stop and read instructions. I make assumptions.

I'm sure it is "clearly stated." I just flew through it.

Siging up for Spock was fast (once I got it to accept my email address) in comparison to many sign ups and much more intuitive. That really helps those of us who don't want to pay attention, read directions.

I feel like I have a presence on Spock. So far I am thrlled with Spock in comparison to Naymz, Facebook, WannaNetwork, MySpace and even Plaxo Pulse and Linkedin. Sorry you took this as negative about Spock. I am way ahead of where I'd be on another social network. I may someday do profiles on some of them.. but I absolutely

I am not a big one for giving out someones email address, sending invites to people and you can tell it looking at my Facebook, Linkedin and Plaxo Pulse pages.

Believe me it has been a nightmare signing up for each and every social network, I just did not blog about it. Maybe I will do an I love Spock post someday. For now I am sure the readers are saying who cares... It's called ColumbusBestBlog.com not social networking 101...

The important question remains... Vulcan or Pediatrician?
