Polaris area colorful roofs

roofs with tarps 2 weeks after the wind storm - Polaris CrossingDriving through the intersection of Lazelle Rd and Sancus Rd this morning a friend pointed out the roof’s at Polaris Crossing ( an *apartment complex which rents furnished apartments on a monthly basis) just south of the south west corner.    Coming back through I had to stop and shoot photos of the colorful green and blue tarps on the roofs.  Remnants of the remnants of Ike coming through Central Ohio on September 14, 2008.    Almost every roof at the rental community seems to have a tarp and you can see evidence of shingles that were torn off by the winds in that historic storm.

Bad roofs?  Bad roofing?  The condominium community just south of Polaris Crossing, Carriage Oaks looked to have roofs intact.. but we saw one condo building with damage.  Driving into  Worthington Highlands (a single family residential neighborhood) there were a few homes with tarps on their roofs.

I am not that great a photographer and it is just my phone’s camera and it is a gray day… (rain?)

I do not work with apartment rentals.

Opera Columbus has a cow

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

I just discovered Opera Columbus has a blogging cow.  I discovered it via Twitter.  Of course a person with Opera Columbus tweeted it. Cows couldn’t Twitter could they?

@Minxy_OperaCols tweeted “Mimi, our blogging opera cow, has a new post! Check it out: http://columbusoperacow.blo…”

Udderly Fabulous Mimi’s  blog says:

Spreading the word about Opera Columbus and everything else that makes Columbus a great place to work, play and live. I’m here to take back the cow in cowtown!”

Wonder if Mimi is on Utterz.com

Are you?

Columbus did not make the list…

Friday, September 19th, 2008

that’s good in this case.  The list is the ten most stressful cities in the US.  Cleveland made the list as did the biggest city in our neighbor state to the north, Detroit.  The Forbes.com article  ‘America’s Most Stressful Cities’ complete with a “picture show” of the 10 stressful cities that made their list says of Cleveland and Detroit:

Rust-belt cities Detroit and Cleveland have high rates of unemployment due to the decline of the American auto industry, and they have nasty pollution problems as a result of it. On the upside, the flight from these cities has meant a fall in home prices, which is good for prospective, if only a few, home buyers.

High home prices is one of the stressors in many of the cities on the Forbes.com list
