Monday, May 12th, 2008This is Bike To Work Week… today is the kick off. Right now. Downtown Columbus. I am waaaaay up north, yet still in the City of Columbus, north of 270. I am still in my PJs. I thought this was Bike To Work Day… That is Friday.

Can Columbus be a cycling city? According to ConsiderBiking.org we ought to try.
“Why bike to work? If you make just one trip to work by bicycle this week, you are likely to understand and embrace the benefits of bicycling for transportation. Cycling has a positive impact on your health, the environment, and your bottom line.”
What does Columbus have going against it to become a cycling city? Between reading the info on the ConsiderBiking.org site and an article in The Other Paper Cycling City it looks like two things:
- Columbus is too spread out
- Columbus Drivers don’t respect cyclists sharing the road
What does Columbus have going for it (among other things) … flat terrain.
I need a helmet…. maybe by Friday.
