Happy Chinese New Year 4706!

Happy Chinese New Year… video of “2008 Chinese New Year Festival opening ceremony ‘Lion dance’  held in Columbus, Ohio.”

…Buddha asked all the animals to meet him on Chinese New Year. When twelve animals showed up he named a year after each animal. People born in the year are supposed to have some of that animal’s personality, this is the year of the rat…

Rats are…

Last year was the year of the Pig, the year before the year of the Dog…

Others Rooster, Tiger, Monkey, Snake, Ox? I’m doing better here than I did when I wrote about this on Discover Columbus but I still can’t remember all of the animals in the Chinese Zodiac.

Trashing Columbus

Wednesday, February 6th, 2008

I said “Happy Mardi Gras Columbus”  on Fat Tuesday….

I did not wake up Tuesday morning itching for a fight about how ”fun” Columbus is or whether the parades are up to snuff.

“Happy Mardi Gras” is not a controversial subject calling for a debate.  I should have deleted the first comment Tuesday, rather than publish it.  Live and learn.

Wet Basement Quiz Question #8

Wednesday, February 6th, 2008
Question #8:  It is ever ok to treat  a moldy basement without removing the water source even when it’s just a damp basement (not leaking).Answer:  UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES!  Every single mold clean up protocol ever credibly written states that the water source must be removed.  When the water source is a wet basement many realtors are reluctant to demand basement de-watering for the home in conjunction with mold clean up because they imagine their commission dwindling or the deal being killed.  A concrete block basement can hold hundreds or even thousands of gallons of water inside the cores without ever leaking on the floor.  The truth of the matter is: if the water source is not remedied, the mold problem will re-surface again raising liability issues for both realtor and broker.

Huh? Why would a real estate agent have a problem with the source of the water being corrected during a sale?  Listing agent? Buyers agent?  Of course this series if from a spam email sent to real estate agents.

If there’s a hole in the roof letting water intrude, you gotta fix it… same’s true on the other end of the house.  Is his fix the only fix? You’d think so from his spam email but there are reputable basement contractors in Central Ohio.

If you discover your basement has problems during the sale of the property,  a good home inspector can refer you to reputable contractors who will remove the source of dampness, any leaks and the mold…

This is from a series from a spam email from a basement contractor.

How is your basement this morning after all the rain?

globalI was memed by Lola Audu of Grand Rapids Michigan: Moi??? I’ve Been MeMe’d???
Lola was memed by Linda Scanlon of Fort Worth Texas: Moi??? I’ve Been MeMe’d???
Linda was memed by Ginger Wilcox of Marin County California: MEME- It shouldn’t be about ME, but today it is…

What is a meme? Joseph Ferrara on Sellsius°Real Estate Blog defined meme:

“A meme (rhymes with dream) is a catch phrase representing a contagious idea that spreads virally in a culture, like transparency, Web 2.0, Long Tail or maybe unzillowable. The word comes from the Greek meaning “mimic”. In the blogosphere, it’s a game of topic tag. You answer the topic question and pass it on to others to do the same. “

Seven random things about me…

1. I was the Mardi Gras Queen a couple of years ago. My office Central Ohio real estate office celebrates Mardi Gras. Happy Fat Tuesday…

2. I am very, very good at board games. Scrabble, Trivial Pursuit etc. I don’t play cards… can not remember how a game is played, one time to the next … I just don’t get it.

3. I took guitar lessons for years and can not play. I can’t read music. I can’t tune a guitar. I could play chords if someone would tune the guitar for me.

3. I don’t eat wheat. I am gluten intolerant. That means no Italian restaurants… No pasta, no pizza… but it also means no Chinese restaurants… lots of soy sauce has wheat. I eat a lot of Mexican food thanks to corn tortillas. There is gluten free pasta, gluten free soy sauce, gluten free bread, cookies, crackers etc.

4. I cheat a lot…on the gluten free diet. If you ever see me eating pizza or a doughnut slap me upside the head. I will be pay for eating it later but I don’t get as sick as some people do obviously or I’d just say no to wheat, barley, rye etc.

5. I’ve lived in Milwaukee WI, Waukesha WI, Madison WI, Green Bay WI (twice), Rockford IL, Akron OH, West Carrolton OH (Dayton area) and Columbus OH. I worked at a Girl Scout camp in Central Wisconsin one summer too, so I guess I lived there.. I think the mailing address was Westfield WI.

6. My middle name is Rose… (I am really, really scraping here.) I try my darnedest not to use my middle name.

7. I have been memed a lot… please no more…
