Port Columbus - When pigs fly…

Tuesday, November 13th, 2007

maureen_pig_group_fly_mw.gif When pigs fly they fly out of Port Columbus on Skybus:

“The inaugural flying pig flight departed today from Port Columbus International Airport in Columbus, OH. More than 100 passengers and airline employees — sporting piggy snouts and hats — were hamming it up on the tarmac atop a VIP pink piggy carpet to board the plane.” according to CNNMoney.com in Capital One Makes Pigs Fly!

A Skybus plane is painted as a pig? A piggie bank? It is to promote Capital Ones Money Market Accounts and reward savvy savers.

Columbus Ohio - Arch City

short north arches

Columbus was known as Arch City long ago because of arches with light bulbs over the main downtown streets that were used to illuminate the streets. The arches were made of wood.

Arches in the Short North that were erected in 2002 (?) reminscent of the arches. The arches in the Short North are made of metal. There were problems with the lights for years. The September 2007 Gallery Hop the lights were reinaugurated. So far so good.

Cap City is another nickname of Columbus Ohio, because it is the capital of Ohio. I believe this photo shows the arch just north of “the Cap” that connects the Short North with Downtown Columbus.
