Monday, February 26th, 2007

Restaurant sign with postcard edgeI don’t know why I have never heard of OpenTable.com before but I never had. Book your reservations at Central Ohio restaurants online. Makes a lot of sense

OpenTable.com

Top 10 Columbus Restaurants on OpenTable.com last week according to their website:

1. Ruth’s Chris Steak House - Columbus
2. Columbus Fish Market - Grandview
3. McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood - Columbus
4. Columbus Fish Market - Worthington
5. Mitchell’s Steakhouse - Columbus Worthington
6. Morton’s, The Steakhouse - Columbus
7. Mitchell’s Ocean Club - Easton Towne Center
8. The Refectory Restaurant & Bistro - Columbus
9. Barcelona Restaurant & Bar - Columbus
10. Smith & Wollensky - Columbus

I read about it in Columbus Business First Online sites satisfy patrons’ hunger for quick, easy dinner reservations

It is relatively expensive for the restaurant initially but what a convenience to the consumer. Maybe I should book next year Valentines Day now.

OpenTable.com has some sort of deal for frequent users… keep ‘em coming back.

Worthington’s Queen Margaret and King Vincent

Wednesday, February 21st, 2007

The QueenHER Real Living Worthington Ohio… it’s Queen Maggie and King Vince. Maggie Huff was crowned queen at the HER Real Living Worthington office 2007 Mardi Gras party. The new king is Vince Orsatti.

I prophesied the king. I sent the prophecy of the newly crowned king and queen to Maureen Francis in Michigan in a sealed email envelope yesterday morning (I like guessing.. I did it with the RealTown Blogs of the Day too… I think I got two of those right…)

Back to Mardi Gras in Worthington Ohio… so few men…so much time. Vince was an easy guess and will make a great king in 2007.

I did not guess Maggie but I am thrilled with the choice by the powers that be… (it is magic… I told Ron Huff that and then tried to back pedal… divine… magic… what does a minister want to hear? __ it happens….)

Previous Mardi Gras Kings in no particular order because I can’t really remember the order:
Debi P’s husband
George Van Lent
Tom Holcombe
Eric Eckert
Herb Schupp
Michael Bean

Previous Mardi Gras Queen’s in no particular order because…just because
Debi Horstman
Babs Hill
Bettsy Jack
Betsy Fry (she became Betsy Bronder during her reign)
Patsy Schmidt
Maureen McCabe

There was not great attendence at the party, some illness, some disinterest, some needed to watch the Wisconsin vs. Michigan State basketball game…. My Badger buddy Pat Bassett called that one… boo hoo… I am not going to say what Pat prophesied about Sunday’s Badger Buckeye matchup… I’ll mail it to Maureen Francis in Michigan in a sealed email envelope.

Ooooh this one needs polka dots. 2007 Logo

What a week. Tonight is the 7th Annual Mardi Gras party at HER Real Living Worthington and I have to pass on the crown I’ve worn for a year to the new queen that is crowned tonight. Yes I was Queen Maureen.

Happy New Year 4705 Columbus

Sunday, February 18th, 2007

Chinese New Year Pig Speaking of pigs… (I was talking about Hoggy’s but I had beef….some say Columbus is a cowtown and I enjoy beef…pork is so Cinci…) Happy Chinese New Year 4705. This is the year of the pig and the clip art I have this ugly pig is the Chinese New Year Pig…..Oh well. Happy year of the pig…

I assume this is year 4705… in the Chinese calendar last year the original Columbus Best Blog said it was 4704 and the year of the dog. I did a best restaurant contest last year. Cameron Mitchell’s Molly Woos won… even if it is not really Chinese. Is Molly Woo’s Pan Asian? I remember discussions….

I am making chicken fried rice tonight… should it be pork fried rice? No we did not do dog last year either…. or ever… yuck.

There is a Central Ohio fortune cookie company? New? Fabulous Fortunes Cookie Co. in Upper Arlington.

Hoggy’s and I made a pig of myself…

Thursday, February 15th, 2007

2007 LogoWe ended up at Hoggy’s and I made a pig of myself for Valentines Day … but we could have just as easily eaten at White Castle… Toby’s blog….well Sadie’s anyway… I still have not mailed Toby and Gretchens coupons… or Paul’s… Gary and Chris have not sent me addresses…

I got a Google Alert that Sadie (or Toby) mentioned me… about cows but I can’t find it… that’s the Delaware baseball team.

cows in truck The beef brisket at Hoggy’s is as wonderful as I remember it. I wanted to order the sandwich and just not eat the bread but Mark talked me into ordering the dinner with a half pound of beef…that I could take home the leftovers. I can’t believe I ate the whole thing.
