WSJ Real Estate Journal says “Discount Real-Estate Brokers Face New Hurdle for Web Listings”

“A revised policy approved by the National Association of Realtors this week may make it harder for discount brokers to draw attention to homes they list for sale.” 

It’s a non issue in the Central Ohio market.  The broker has had the ability to discern what competitors listings to display on their company website. The Columbus Board of REALTORS® included listings of all member brokerages regardless of business model.  The individual brokerage determines what proprties are advertised on their website for consumers.  HER Real Living does not have to advertise listings for all competitors on their websites. HER has the best consumer search site in Central Ohio, in my opinion.

Actually Trulia.com has two big launches

National Heat Map  - “allows consumers to understand real estate trends at the hyper local level. You can see price trends here on the national, county and ZIP level across the country.” according to Megan Kamil, Prouct Manager, Trulia, Inc.  Zip code level…  Zip code level…  Trulia Trend’s Columbus is one of 15 markets featured in the report.  I covered it on my other blog… Discover Columbus.

I decided to rename my original blog, Discover Columbus.  It was going to be renamed ‘The Original Columbus Best Blog’ but thanks to some brainstorming with blogging friends including John Novak of  Las Vegas I decided to go with Discover Columbus.   

The RealTown Blog platform has some really neat features. There are some things that RT Blogs have built into their system that I wish were here. Or maybe they are here and I just can’t see them. I know it took me a day to see how to add images here.  There is nothing wrong with that blog, I am not abandoning that blog.

Any WordPress bloggers who want to pass on any words of wisdom feel free…I keep forgeting to check what a “Post slug” is until  I am writing…. I need to get a logo into my sidebar to satisfy the state requirements for real estate websites to have the company name on every page. Until that time I will just throw a logo in the body of each post.  I believe I did that on the original Columbus Best Blog … now known as Discover Columbus until I could figure out how to change my template…

This is probably overkill but I have to have the name on each page…. humor me…I will figure this out and remove the polka-dots.

HER Real Living has a new logo as of 2007.  It is difficult sometimes for some to see the distinctions between the old and the new.  In fact sometimes the distinctions between what is Real Living, what is HER Real Living have been difficult for me to explain to people… and even to see for myself. 

I believe I was at a closing in late 2002 or late 2003 when I understood our company was named HER Real Living now and not HER Realtors, inc.  A title agent brought it up. I hope the puzzlement in my face and a light going off over my head did not freak my buyer out.  We became HER Real  Living in early 2002 I believe.  

I knew the history of Real Living.  I was just in the habit of saying HER Realtors (I did not say the Inc. usually.)

I think she asked me how the name change was going… I thought she was asking me personally… huh?  I don’t know whether my blank look made her clarify… explain she was talking about HER not Maureen McCabe.

I have helped other agents in my office with their websites.  I have run into resistance re: not calling the company HER Realtors so I know I was not the only one stuck in my ways.

Good bye…  old logo pre 2007… 

The funny thing is I have a shirt with the 2007 logo… I ordered it wrong …or the vendor made them up wrong… I think a bunch of us have them.  I have one with a pre-2007 logo too.  Time to go change the logos on my blogs and websites…. If you get there before me… cool your jets.

Happy 2007 HER Real Living in Columbus Ohio

Happy 2007 Real Living where ever you are… whatever your company logo. 

 

   HER was 50 years old in 2006.… HER Real Living that is.  HER Real Living has been a leader in the Central Ohio market for decades.  I wish I had some of the old HER Logos to share… basically they were like the HER writing in the logos…. they had a very retro look to me.  I did not appreciate the old HER Realtors logos in the 80’s and well into the 90’s… they looked dowdy to me. 

Now if I could just figure out how to get any logo into the side of my new blog here….

Happy New Year.  I think I started another blog on New Years Day 2006 and abandoned it shorly after.  I started another blog about a week later.  I did go back to my blog on RealTown Blogs.    I guess that blog will become The Original Columbus Best Blog, or Columbus Best Blog - the original… or maybe I will change the name to Columbus Ohio Real Estate if that is not taken. 

With my Active Rain Blog I am going to be triblogular… well there are five if you count those two… but I have not blogged on them since January 2006.
